CTG - Closing the Gap: Improving Healthcare for Indigenous Australians
The Australian government launched the Closing the Gap (CTG) initiative to improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Indigenous Australians face significant challenges when it comes to accessing quality healthcare. And the CTG program seeks to address these issues by providing tailored healthcare services to Indigenous communities.
The CTG program has several components, one of which is the Close the Gap Prescription program. This program provides free or subsidised medications for certain chronic conditions. Such as diabetes, asthma, and heart disease to eligible Indigenous Australians. To be eligible, patients must be diagnosed with an eligible chronic condition. Or have a current healthcare card, and be receiving ongoing medical treatment for their condition.
At Bellambi Pharmacy, we are proud to be a part of the CTG program. And to be able to provide essential medications to Indigenous Australians. Our pharmacists work closely with patients and healthcare providers to ensure that they receive the appropriate medication. Also, support patients to manage their chronic conditions.
Range of health services
We understand that managing a chronic condition can be challenging. Which is why we offer a range of health services to support Indigenous Australians. Our pharmacists receive training to provide medication management reviews, smoking cessation advice, and diabetes management support. Bellambi Pharmacy also offers a range of health checks, including blood pressure and blood glucose checks. We help patients monitor their health and prevent chronic conditions from developing.
We believe that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare. Regardless of their background or circumstances. We are committed to closing the health gap for Indigenous Australians through the CTG program and our range of health services.
If you or someone you know is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and is living with a chronic condition, please do not hesitate to contact us. We'll support you through the CTG program and our range of health services. Together, we can make a difference in the health and wellbeing of Indigenous Australians.
